Also between then and march 72, the hill above the Navy site across the harbor was attacked, and we lost a few people. They would travel over there by Landing Craft (mike boat) from the Army Compound with their APC. I was in the harbor that night nursing a disabled boat when a Cobra broke away from the attack formation and came down and visited me personally. Talk about steppin' and fetch'n! A PBR towed me to the Delong pier. This incident is still haunting me 32 years later. VA has continues to deny my claim unless I have specific dates time and names. HELP!

Message is: My brother was killed on Dec 3, 1966 when a 155 Howitzer exploded prematurely. I have found two of his comrades and the medic who went to his aid that day. He was killed instantly and there were 5 others who were injured. I have talked with one of his buddies, but I haven't been able to find his best friend Al. I long to talk to him. He had another good friend by the name of Rivera. I have no idea where he is. I was only 12 years old at the time and I want to find out all the information I can. I have heard several things about what happened, but I'd like to hear all the stories. My oldest brother has had his dog tag for all these years and he recently gave it to me. I wear it with pride and sadness. He volunteered for the last mission and only had 15 days left to serve. He had already received orders to come home. Message is: Mr. Gaines is Afro American, he stood 5'5" to 5'6" and he wore glasses, he is left handed. The last know state of residence was Louisiana his rank was E-4 we both came to Vietnam on the USS General John Pope from Fort Lewis. Our regular unit was the 821st HMS Co which was of Fort Lewis, we arrived at Vung Tau then sent to Long Binh and their we became part of 277th S&S Bn. Orders were cut to send us to the 506th Field Depot Saigon Camp Davies. Our company commander at the time was a Col Roland J. Savilla then later the 506th became a separate unit which was the 506th S&S Co. However we were still attached to the 277th S&S Bn, but we remained at Camp Davies until I left on April 4 or 5 of 1968. That was the last time I saw him, in any capacity. Can't recall what his mos was for sure, but light wheel mechanic could have been it. This is all I can remember of myself and Mr. Robert Gaines, thanking you much for your help signed Robert Huff a Vietnam Vet. PS I do have t! he picture he will be indicated on it. Oh! Message is: I'm looking for anyone who flew a mission in December 1967. Two choppers went down at the same time. One flew back to LZ Miami Beach. Both the door gunner and crew chief were hit. The hydralic line was hit and the chopper almost crashed.I pulled the crew chief out and later had to sling load the chopper out via a chinook. Anyone remembering this Please respond back.

He was from Nashville TN and his tour began on 10/03/67 and ended when he died on 8/17/68 a victim of Accidental Homicide. Does anyone know what this term means? Possibly a landmine? Message is: Mister Wieburg is listed on our memorials in the Midland-Odessa, Texas area. He is also honored by the Permian Basin Vietnam Veteran's Memorial located at the Midland, Texas International Airport. I am interested in developing biographical information for our memorial on this aviator. I did not know him. I did find where there was possibly a sister who graduated from Permian High School, Odessa, Texas in/around 1967. I can not find any evidence that he might have attended school in Odessa. Odessa, Texas is his home of record. Information developed from the Vietnam Veteran's Helicopter Association shows that Mr. Wieburg was a co-pilot on a UH-1H (tail number 66-16330) went into a left descending turn, crashed and burned. Four men died in the incident, one of which was Mr. Wieburg. This was listed as a non-hostile, died missing, body recovered incident. Anyone with information on this aviator and who could assist me in locating family would be greatly appre! ciated.
