Message is: I would like to reach anyone who was assigned to the 339th Transportation Company (DS) during November 1964 to December 1965, located at Nha Trang, Vietnam. This was a CH-37 Helicopter unit supporting all of the central highlands. I was assigned as the unit supply specialist, unit mail clerk, and unit graves registration clerk. During 1968 to 1969 I did a second tour in Vietnam with the 4th Infantry Division, 4th Supply and Transport Battalion, located at Pleiku, Vietnam. After 23 years with the Army I retired as a Sergeant Major, E9, in March 1984 at the USMA, West Point New York. In December of 1990 I was recalled to active duty and was assigned to the Dover AFB Mourtary, US Army Escort Det. I have developed medical problems from my two tours in Vietnam and I need help getting the facts for my VA claim. Upon my departure from the 4th ID in March 1969, my medical records were lost in the mail and they were never recovered. During December 1964 while I was on a resu! pply mission I was in a vehicle accident, I recieved large cuts on my left hand and left leg and in June of 1965 I was in a mortar attack at Nha Trang. I have the scars to prove the accident, and I am going deaf in my ears, I am 80% deaf in both ears. Please if anyone can help me I would be deeply grateful. I have a copy of the Daily News dated 28 June 1965 that gives the details of the mortar attack, but no medical records. We were in the 5/22 arty and about two months after we got to Nam I went to the 7/15 arty B-btry, I think he also went to the 7/15 but not sure, when we got split up I don't know where he went. I know that we went to Nam on the US UPSER ship. We left about Dec 5 1967, We flew back from Nam about Nov 18 or 23 sometime in that time frame to Ft Lewis Washington. Message is: 1972-73 I was in CoD 101st avn bn Ft. Campbell Ky. I would like to hear from SSG Bruce Laird, SSG Fred Niedlinger,Maj Howd,Capt Robinson,WO Boatright,WO Lalabertie,or anyone with information. I was crew chief on a UH-1H that had engine failure between Pensacola Flordia and Ft. Campbell Ky. The 101st had just returned from Vietnam, and we went to Pensecola, FL. to pick up our Hueys from the ship. Had an engine vibration on the 1st test flight. Inspections and groundrunning showed nothing wrong, and a 2nd and 3rd test flight ran smooth. We left for Ft. Campbell, lost the engine in Alabama at 2500', and went down in a cow pasture. I think WO Boatright was the AC, and the pilot was WO Lalabertie. If anyone rembers this please contact me.
