Message is: I am looking for family of James Everett Lane who perished in July 1962 having volunteered as a door gunner on a helicopter. According to Army Times, this was the first helicopter shot down in Vietnam. The pilot of the aircraft was CWO Joseph A. Goldberg. His son has contacted me to get assistance and locating family. His name is Benny Goldberg and James Lane was killed with his father. We are trying to locate his family members. Hoping his family will respond. He just recently acquired a audio copy of the ceremony of the naming of Camp Goldberg and the naming of Lane hanger. We are sure his family would like to have a copy. Sp5 Lane was a career soldier and had served in Korea earning the Silver Star and Purple Heart, his CIB and parachute wings. For his actions in Vietnam, he was awarded the DFC, the Bronze Star Medal and his second purple heart. Specialist Lane is buried at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa, Texas. His surviving family may be in the Atlanta, Geor! gia area. His wife's name was JoAnn, his son, James Everett Lane, Jr, two daughters, Cynthia and Pam. His father and mother divorced when James was small, he has two half brothers, Don and Jackie Lane. Both parents are deceased, mother buried near James in Odessa, Texas. Early in 1969 I went back to LZ Bronco and I believe he went out with a company from the 1/20 as their RTO. One afternoon I got a message that he had been hit and was asking for me. I got to the MASH just as his dustoff was leaving. I would very much like to be able to tell him I was on my way to see him and that I have thought about him often over the years. Don't remember his full name but we all called him Lurch. Message is: My street name when I met Michael Jackson Morgan was Pandora. I met him in Chicago outside the Art Institute. I was very ill at the time with Lymphocytic Leukemia and had run away from home becuse I know longer wanted medical intervention. Michael wanted a child with me and we tried for several months. We stayed on the north side of Chicago not far from Childrens Hosp next to the EL with people from Second City Theater Troupe. Michael had served his full term in Nam but upon returning to the states he didn't return to base to complete his seperation. He was a medic/anbulance driver who seemed to suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I returnrd home to help my child be born and he was on October 8, 1970. I went into remission but am now fighting A. L.L. again. I don't care about me but Kent needs a family of his own. From whar he told me his father was in some sort of Diplomatic Service in the middle east prior to his joining the US Army. On return he kept in touch with an Army Lawyer to keep from totally being considered AWOL and to protect himself from being Dishonorably Discarged but given a General Discarge.

Message is: I am attempting to put together some of my father's vietnam history together, as he now has alzheimers and does not remember much of what his experiences were. I would like to find some people who remembered serving with him during those two tours and get more of a picture of what he has been through. Before having alzheimers he had mentioned ony brief instances of flying in "bird dogs", being a door gunner and driving trucks, if that helps. He enlisted in 64 and retired in 84. Message is: I was in the MACV Training Dirctorate at the Ranger Command Advisory Detachment from March 1970 to April 1971 around Saigon. We werethe Headquarters for the Vietnamese Rangers - Biet Dong Quan. The training camp was at Duc My near Nha Trang. I am having trouble proving anything since unit records appear to be non-existant. I am wanting new evidence on my PTSD claim currently rejected due to lack of proof of stressors. I have 10% disability for allergies, 10% agent orange diabetes, 10% diabetes medicine, 20% (10% for each foot) for neuropathy. The VA rates the 50% as 42% so I am 40% disabled now. Help!!!

Message is: My dad, Gary F. Brummett, served 2 tours of duty in Vietnam. I am very proud of my father for what he endured while serving his Country. Unfortunately, my father has now been diagnosed with PTSD (and other various health problems) related to Vietnam, and the Government will not grant his disability because of paperwork. By this I mean, procedures were different in Vietnam (nothing was what it was supposed to be). On paper you could be in stationed one location, but in reality you were transferred to another location without documentation and serving with people in different platoons - fighting for your life. My father did not know their names or where they were from, he was only trying to stay alive and the> majority of the soldiers fought with were killed. When applying for disability, the paperwork now has to be in a certain order and it just is not. There is no way to give the Government the information they want or need. I feel like the Government did an injusti! ce to my Dad in Vietnam and now he is facing the same injustice here in the U.S.
