Message is: My father, Richard A. Hines, was in the Navy from about 1950 ~ 1954 (?). My father passed away when I was 13 and I do not have much information on his history. I do know that he had a very good friend in the Navy, Robert Hitch, who was from Delaware. I never had the oppotunity to share my father's memories of his experiences in the Navy, although he made sure everyone knew how proud he was to have served in the Navy. I have found photos from when he was in the Navy and what I can gather is: He was in the navy around the years 1950 ~ 1954. I have photos from Italy, taken on Christmas Day 1952 on the USS Newport News, CA 148. Robert Hitch was with my father in the Navy and after they returned they remained friends. I remember, as a very young girl going to Delaware to vist Mr. Hitch and his family and we ended up adopting one of their dachshaund puppies. If there is anyway for me to get in touch with any man who may have known my father and could possibly share! some memories with me, so that I, in turn, can pass on a more complete legacy of my Dad to my children and maybe I can fill a bit of the void that has remained in my heart since 1973 when my father passed away. my fathers info: Richard Alexander Hines Born: August (16) 1932, Newark, NJ
