Message is: I am looking for the family of Major William Meyer so that I can give them the POW bracelet that I wore with his name and MIA date. I was in the 7th grade in Huntsville AL when Major Meyer was shot down. I don't recall the exact date the POW bracelet organization was founded, but I would like the family to know that I wore his bracelet until about 1981 when I began working for American Airlines and "political wear" was not allowed to be worn with our uniforms. I found information on www.pownetwork.org that states Major Meyer was from Taylor MI, and he was born 22NOV34. Also, I learned from that website that he (remains) was returned in August 1985. He flew missions over Germany from forward air fields in France (A-79 and A-82). My father passed away in 1982 and I've been collecting his papers. He served with another pilot, Leo Szarfinski who later changed his surname to Haley. Leo apparently passed away in 1987. I'm looking for Leo's family. My father took a number of photos during his time in Europe that featured Leo. Maybe the family would be interested in seeing them (they are posted on the web) and maybe, if Leo told stories, they could help me identify some of the people.
