Message is: I have been hunting for years to find a former Marine whom served with me in 2nd Plt Charlie company. Some of the former members remember his name as Braden, but were not real sure of that. We can say with certainty that he was wounded on Catapult in May of 69. I was his Plt Sgt. at the time. We have found about 25 members of the platoon, but my search is not over until I find out how this marine did back here in the world. He lost his left arm due to a gernade after only being in the company for five days or so. About 0025 at night. It is believed he was in the 3317 series or there about. Message is: Johnny Hopkins was with me in Vietnam, I had carried the radio for about 7 clicks when Johnny said he would carry the radio for the rest of the day. He had no longer than put on the radio when the order was given by Capt. Sampson (Capt. Sam) for the radio operators to come up. Message is: I am looking for people who served with my dad for my own personal research. (I teach literature, but I love history.) He is alive and well, but I want to know more than he is willing to talk about. I have photos of people he served with and would gladly share them. I know he was around the Da Nang area. I recently read a book named West Dickens Ave. and told him that many of the photos in it look just like his photos. He told me that his unit was the one that came in right after the 26th Marines held on for 77 days at Khe Sanh, although he had not personally joined the unit until a little while after.
