Message is: I don't really have much knowledge about my father except what my mother could tell me. He never knew about me before he was sent to Vietnam in 1966, the year I was born. Her name was Rena and I was raised in a small town called North River, approx 15 miles east of Cherry Point Marine Base in Havalock, NC and approx. 45 miles east of Camp Lejune Marine Base. He had a friend they called Big Roger ,they always traveled together. I met Rodger a few years ago when he just showed up in my moms home town. I live 3 hrs away and drove down to meet Rodger. He knew who i was as soon as my wife and I entered the door, he called me by my fathers name because in his eyes I looked the same as him. My father was shipped over before Rodger, they only crossed path once in Vietnam and never saw one another again. The war clouded most of the memories he had so i really had nothing to use to find my father. I don't even know if I'm spelling the name correct. My mother really wants me to meet Bl! aney if he is still alive. My uncles all talk about his good nature and how he always showed up for my grandmothers good food. I have a large family background (Johnsons) and most still live in the small, but very friendly town of North River. Im' hoping to find any information on my fathers . This soldier was on the last helicopter making a final sweep of the Saigon airport on April 29, 1975 when they approached a young Vietnamese teenager who was the only one left and helped him on the helicopter. This helicopter then flew to the aircraft carrier where some of the Vietnamese helicopters were thrown overboard to make room for the refugees. I was concieved on his R&R when my mother met him in Hawaii. He flew back to Vietnam and was killed. She flew back to Alabama and became a mother and a widow.

Message is: Mike and I were buddies and roommates in North Hollywood in 1963-64. I got married in summer '64, then he joined the Marine Corps Reserve program (weekend warrior) sometime after that before volunteering for a tour in Vietnam, exact times not remembered, but around 1966 - 1969 years. We rejoined in 1971 in Fresno, CA, (he was working for Southland Corp then) after I was discharged from active duty from the Navy, but lost contact in mid-70's. He was also good friends with my brother but no contact with him either. Last reported residence was still in California.
